Windows 7 Parental Controls
To access Windows 7 Parental Controls:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts and Family Safety.
2. Click Set up parental controls for any user.
3. Under Users, click a user account to manage. If you haven’t already created a user account for your child, click Create a new user account to set up a new account.
4. Under Parental Controls, click On, enforce current settings.
5. After the parental controls are on, you may adjust the individual settings you want to control for each user account (see below).
Windows 7 Parental Controls provide the following options for managing computer use for every member of the family:
Computer Games
Allow or block games based on ratings or select specific titles to allow or block by choosing Games under the Parental Controls menu.
Time Limits
Decide when your child can use the computer, by clicking Time limits under the Parental Controls menu. Use the grid to set blocks of time when your child can use the computer.
Program Restrictions
Determine which programs your child can use by selecting Allow and block specific Programs from the Parental Controls menu.
Under Additional controls, select the provider for the controls you want to add in the Select a provider box. If there is no Select a provider box, you can install additional controls by downloading the free Windows Live Family Safety Filter or controls from another service provider. Windows Live Family Safety provides the following additional options:
Web Restrictions and Contact Management
Block specific Web sites and manage who your kids can communicate with over Windows Live Spaces, Messenger, or Hotmail.
Activity Reports
Get a report on the sites your kids visit, the games and programs they play and download, and how long they are online.
